About Me

I believe that we are all artists, that inside each of us is the potential to create amazing things. Not all of these things will fall within the confines of what is normally considered art, nor will they all be considered “great” and shared with millions. Yet all of our creations are important and as unique to each of us as our fingerprints; they are expressions of our souls. They tell our stories, and this is mine.

I am an artist.  Even though I have been creating art my entire life it is only recently that I have started using this title and it feels like a new pair of hiking boots: ready for adventure but not yet worn in.

At age 14 I borrowed my mother’s already ancient Konika Minolta film camera and never looked back. That was the start of what will certainly be a life-long love affair with photography. Capturing the beauty of the natural world around me, freezing that moment of emotion in an image, speaks to a depth inside me and connects me with nature in a way nothing else ever has. My hope is that it will speak to others too, that my art will spark a deeper interest in creativity, allow true self-expression to shine through and cultivate an appreciation for nature that will help save our planet.

For in the end these are my ultimate goals. Not simply the creation of a piece of art, to be admired, but rather, that by gazing at one of my photos or wearing one of my shirts that one feels connected, to nature, to the world and to themselves. With the hope that we can all learn to love and respect our planet, and each other, at least a little better.

Nature speaks to me when I look through my view finder or pick up a paintbrush. I am simply a translator, trying to give voice to the wonders of nature.
